Jobs and Murdoch to share platform at Daily launch

News International's iPad newspaper, The Daily, is set to launch next week at an event co-hosted by Rupert Murdoch and Steve Jobs, Apple's chief executive, according to a Yahoo! blog.

, and the launch date may yet move again. The presence of Steve Jobs will significantly boost the unveiling's impact.

The Daily is being touted as the first iPad newspaper, although News International sources say it will run on other tablets. It is the first paper to be designed for, and run exclusively for, tablets.

The newspaper is expected to cost $0.99 a week. , The Times, The Sunday Times, and WSJ.com

, said to be designed for the iPad, launched in December, backed by Lexus, and American Express.

News International and Apple were unavailable for comment.
