UBC will develop and supply iPhone and other mobile platform apps to the radio stations for free, in return for selling ad space within the applications.
Ads within the apps will be sold as a network by UBC's internet advertising business Lynx Content, and ad revenue will then be shared between UBC and the radio station.
The addition of the five radio groups today (26 April) means UBC is set to produce mobile apps for 45 stations with a total combined weekly reach of just under seven million listeners, according to radio audience measurement system Rajar.
The apps will allow smartphone users to listen to the radio station wherever they have wi-fi or a mobile internet signal, as well as providing a range of additional features such as programme reminders, listen-again and social network interaction.
Simon Cole, chief executive of UBC, said: "The rapid growth of our network demonstrates the momentum in what I believe will become an increasingly important market for radio stations. Consumer habits are changing and streamed listening on mobile devices is the fastest growing area of overall radio listening."
Earlier this month, UBC announced it was to launch apps for UTV's radio stations, which include national AM station TalkSport, and the digital station Planet Rock.
The first application will launch for TalkSport as part of the station's build-up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, and other stations will launch their apps over the next three months.
UBC has experience in developing ad network projects in commercial radio. Last year, it sold its traffic and travel news business to American company Global Traffic Networks for £10.9m.
Cole added: "I believe that the new iPhone radio network combines perfectly UBC's core strengths of content and related technology, and we expect it to be a major part of our commercial offering in the future."
