Kydd, who joined the company following Ntl's acquisition of Virgin Mobile in 2006, and was behind the launch of the new Virgin Media brand in February 2007, said that he was leaving to seek "a new challenge".

He will leave the company by the end of September. A successor in the role has yet to be announced.

Kydd has managed agency relationships with Virgin Media's roster, which includes Rapier, Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R, Manning Gottlieb OMD and Goodstuff.

Neil Berkett, the chief executive of Virgin Media, said: "In an industry not traditionally known for its creative marketing, [Kydd's] work has helped put the Virgin Media brand firmly on the map and establish a distinctive voice for the company."
