Organised by Jaguar, keen cyclists are invited to join a group ride from their local Jaguar dealership as part of the car brand’s association with Team Sky, with the XF Sportbrake model supporting Team Sky at this year's Tour de France.
The events, which begun on 19 September, will run until 13 October with dealerships across the country getting involved.
Two cyclists from each organised ride will then be selected by Jaguar to compete in a Grand Final event held on 29 October at a private test facility in Warwickshire.
Participants will have the opportunity to be driven by professional racing drivers in a range of Jaguar R and R-S cars, as well as the new F-Type, and test their own driving skills against the clock in the Directeur Sportif Challenge, which assesses the driving skills required to support a professional cycling team.
The selected riders from across the country will also compete in a cycling time trial challenge, with the top two participants’ combined cycling and driving times winning a trip to Team Sky’s winter training camp in Majorca.
Dan Connell, global brand PR and communications manager for Jaguar, told Event: "The fundamental reason for holding these events is that Jaguar has a good pedigree in cycling and for the last couple of years it has supported Team Sky – people will have seen the XF Sportbrake model in the Tour of Britain and Tour de France.
"Getting our dealers involved is something we are very keen to do because cycling is massively in vogue at the moment and we recognise the opportunity to increase dealer engagement."
The rides will take place in Welwyn Garden City, Guildford, Luton, Woodford (London), West Sussex, Southampton, Plymouth, Truro, Bristol, Newcastle, Houghton-le-Spring (Tyne and Wear), Stockton-on-Tees, Wilmslow, Stoke-on-Trent and Worcester.
