Jagermeister appoints Syzygy and Hi-Res! for digital branding

LONDON - Jagermeister has appointed digital agency Syzygy and its recently acquired sister agency Hi-Res! after a pitch to create a global internet platform for the alcohol brand.

Syzygy and Hi-Res! beat off competition from Saatchi & Saatchi, Interone and German agency Neue Digitale, owned by Avenue A/Razorfish.

It is the first time the two agencies have won a pitch together since .

Sven Markschlager, head of digital marketing at Jagermeister, said: "The Hi-Res!/Syzygy team showed the best balance of creative and ability to deliver internationally and technically. They will also work with VML to support the very important US market."

Jagermeister is made from 56 herbs, fruits, woods, barks and roots including cinnamon-bark from Ceylon, bitter orange skins from Australia, santal from East India and ginger roots from southern Asia.

Gareth Phillips, managing director of Syzygy, said: "Jagermeister is a phenomenon, grass-root marketed with huge success.

"The time is ripe to use digital as a reflection of how it is positioned differently in different global markets. The first market will be the UK -- there is no global roll-out process, rather a lot of freedom to bring the brand to life over the internet with a common theme, which is wonderful for us."
