The match itself, not including the build-up and post match analysis, attracted an average audience of 9.6m and a 42% share. ITV1's Champions League audience peaked at 10.3m, with a 46% share.
Last night's final included the same teams as the final two years ago, which ended in Liverpool defeating AC Milan after extra-time and penalties.
The 2005 final was watched by an average audience of 9.7m viewers and a 44% share. The 2005 coverage peaked at 14.6m viewers and a 60% share as the game went to penalties.
Last year's final, between Arsenal and Barcelona, compares favourably to last night's game, pulling in an average audience of 9.2m and a 39% share, with a peak audience of 12.3m and a 48% share.
An ITV spokesman pointed to last night's good weather as a determining factor in the slight dip in coverage, compared to viewing figures for the 2006 final.
However, ITV1 scored its highest ever audience figures for its Champions League coverage across the 2006-2007 season, since the 2002-2003 season.
ITV1's live games attracted an average audience of 5.9m this season. By comparison the average audience for games during the 2005-2006 season was 5.7m viewers, while the 2004-2005 season averaged 5.1m viewers. The 2002-2003 season averaged 6.3m viewers per game.
Sky's live coverage of last night's game on Sky Sports 1 was watched by 750,000 viewers and an average audience share of 4.1%.
