ITV News gets new look to bring it in line with ITV1 branding

LONDON - ITV News will have a new look, new graphics and new opening titles starting from November 2, bringing the branding in line with ITV1.

The new design will run across all ITV news programming, including ITV Lunchtime News, ITV Evening News and ITV News at Ten. It has been developed by Bruce Dunlop Associates along with ITV and ITN.

ITV is also moving its flagship weekly news programme 'Tonight' to a prime-time slot starting in 2010. It is bringing its journalism resources into a new production model that will see ITV Studios, ITN and ITV's UK news operation working together to produce the show.

The new-look ITV News will be supported by a major on- and off-air marketing campaign promoting news throughout the schedule.

Michael Jermey, ITV's director of news, current affairs and sport, said: "ITV News programmes are performing extremely strongly, getting journalistic scoops and winning major awards.

"We believe the investment in our news brand announced today will further enhance the appeal of our programmes for ITV1 viewers."
