ITV extends Millionaire run to early 2009

LONDON - ITV has commissioned a new series of 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?', keeping the show in its primetime schedule until at least spring 2009.

The new deal with production company 2waytraffic comes after a recent refresh of the show. It comprises at least 25 60-minute episodes and will again be fronted by Chris Tarrant.

It will be the 22nd UK series of the show since its first appearance in 1998. In this time there have been more than 480 episodes and more than 1,300 contestants who have collectively won over £50m.

Duncan Gray, controller of entertainment at ITV, said: "We're thrilled that ITV1 continues to be the home of the inspirational 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?'. It's where it belongs."
