IPC and Reed Business head AOP awards shortlist

LONDON - IPC and Reed Business head the 2009 Association of Online Publishers Digital Publishing Awards, securing 13 nominations each across seven categories.

They were followed closely by Guardian News & Media with 10 nominations across six categories, including Guardian.co.uk chalkboards, in the awards' launch category and editorial consumer team of the year.

The total shortlist nominations cover 17 categories and represent consumer and business publishers.

News International received seven nominations across six categories, including launch, digital advertising sales team and mobile website. Incisive Media picked up seven nominations across five categories and UBM received six nominations across five categories.

There were six nominations for BSkyB across six categories. The BBC scored five nominations across four categories, while Channel 4 received five nominations across four categories.

Haymarket, publisher of Media Week, is nominated for Brand Republic (business website), and Haymarket motoring display, (digital ad sales team).

The AOP introduced three new categories to the awards this year: the digital editor individual, digital commercial individual and specialist digital publisher, recognising the success of smaller media owners with an annual turnover of less than £5m, from both business and consumer publishing.

The winners of the AOP Awards will be announced at a gala dinner on 2 June, at Old Billingsgate, London.
