IPC appoints Chunn as editor of In Style

LONDON - IPC Media has promoted In Style acting editor Louise Chunn to the post of editor of the UK version of the title.

Chunn replaces Dee Nolan, who left the magazine in April to become editor-at-large of IPC parent company Time in the US. Chunn takes up the post with immediate effect.

Chunn was on the original launch team of In Style in the UK before it was integrated into IPC, which was bought by Time parent AOL Time Warner last summer for £1.15bn.

Before she joined In Style, Chunn's previous experience includes editing Emap's teen magazine Just Seventeen and The Guardian's women's pages. She has also been deputy editor of Elle and of Vogue, which she left to join In Style.

Chubb faces an uphill challenge ahead of her as editor of the underdog of the UK women's glossy sector. In Style has struggled to make a big impact in the already crowded UK market, despite the success of its US sister title, which is among the top US women's glossies.

In April, IPC Southbank, the division that is home to In Style, appointed Walsh Trott Chick Smith to create an above-the-line integrated marketing campaign for the title to help boost sales.

In the last set of ABCs, In Style had a circulation of 151,159 in a market dominated by circulation heavyweights such as sister title Marie Claire and Emap's New Woman, which recorded 382,094 and 305,088 respectively.

At the top of the pile, Cosmopolitan had an ABC circulation of 463,010 and Glamour, its closest rival, had 436,579.
