IPC appoints Caroline McDevitt as group advertising director

LONDON – IPC Media has named former Barb chief executive Caroline McDevitt as director of group advertising.

McDevitt will be responsible for IPC's central sales teams including business development, key accounts, ad marketing and the regional ad sales team in Manchester, along with IPC TX and IPC Connect group sales teams.

She replaces Georgina Crace, who was poached by Trinity Mirror and old boss Sly Bailey in August to fill the managing director post at its regional newspapers division.

The remit of IPC's group advertising director role has been reduced since Crace's departure with ad directors at IPC SouthBank, Classified and Ignite! reporting to their divisional managing directors rather than McDevitt.

Since resigning as chief executive of Barb in early 2004 after six years at the helm, McDevitt has spent the last year consulting on media projects, including planning and buying agency Walker Media.

She previously spent six years as a main board director of West Country Television and at various ITV companies running sales teams and handling local and national advertising.

McDevitt takes over the role on May 3 and will report to IPC chief executive Sylvia Auton.

"Caroline is the ideal person to lead IPC Advertising when clients and agencies are demanding more innovation and more creativity in our ad offering," Auton said.
