IPC raids Capital to fill one of its biggest sales positions

LONDON - IPC Media's TV listings division, TX, has appointed Capital Radio network sales manager Marc Beeney as its new advertising director.

As of January 4, Beeney will take responsibility for advertising and sponsorship revenues across TX's portfolio of magazines, which includes What's on TV, TV Times, TV & Satellite Week and Soaplife.

Beeney joined Capital Radio in 1996 as a sales executive for Newslink. After promotion to the position of network sales manager, he then took on the additional role of acting head of network sales, during which time he was responsible for securing an £8m sponsorship deal with Woolworth's.

Prior to his time at Capital, Beeney was head of agency sales in the group classified division of The National Magazine Company.

Neil Perkin, group advertising director for IPC TX, Connect and Key Accounts, said: "This is one of the biggest ad sales jobs in magazines. Marc's excellent trading credentials, combined with his experience of large-scale sponsorship solutions, make him the ideal person for the job."
