IPC Media shakes up advertising after Crace departure

LONDON – Advertising directors at IPC SouthBank, Classified and Ignite! will report to their divisional managing directors rather than to former IPC Advertising managing director Georgina Crace's eventual replacement.

The changes, made by IPC Media chief executive Sylvia Auton, define the role of IPC group advertising director, a position the company is looking to fill, with reduced responsibilities compared with Crace's former position.

Crace was poached in August by Trinity Mirror chief executive Sly Bailey to fill the managing director post at Trinity's regional newspapers division.

As a result of the restructure, IPC SouthBank group ad director Mark Reen will report directly to SouthBank managing director Sandy Whetton.

IPC Ignite! group ad director Karl Marsden will report to Ignite! managing director Tim Brooks.

IPC Classified group ad director Cathy Neale will report to Country & Leisure Media managing director Paul Williams, who already has responsibility for Country & Leisure Media group ad sales.

In addition, IPC's Wallpaper division will report to IPC Media board director and SouthBank managing director Whetton.

The new position of IPC group advertising director covers responsibility for the TX and Connect group sales teams and the central sales teams, which include business development, key accounts, innovator, ad marketing and the regional sales team in Manchester.

Auton said: "The industry is demanding more innovation and creativity in our ad offering. This structure provides IPC with the perfect framework to build on the proven success and strength of IPC Advertising, while facilitating more tailored ad solutions for our client and agency partners."
