IDS – the ad sales house for Virgin Media TV, UKTV, Setanta Sports and Virginmedia.com – secured the deal with agency MediaCom.
The movie will be broadcast sponsor of both Bravo and Bravo 2 from 7.30pm until 12.30am, from 10 March for five days.
American Gangster will be the premiere sponsor of Bravo’s new real-time US drama, The Kill Point. The new crime drama is the story of a group of US soldiers who band together to pull off a major bank heist.
The deal is the latest in a series of stunt weekends and short-term sponsorships between Bravo and Universal Pictures, including promotion of the DVD launches of The Bourne Ultimatum and The Kingdom.
Trevor Poulsum, IDS’s agency sales senior executive, said the deal would maximise awareness of the DVD release of American Gangster, and would also capitalise on its association with The Kill Point.
