The 2009 IDM Educator of the Year award went to Nick Hutton, managing director of Morley's of Bicester.
The awards were presented at the IDM's annual lunch today by speaker Don Tapscott, business and marketing guru and co-author of books such as Wikinomics and The Naked Corporation.
David Miles, chair of the IDM's educational trust, said the fellowships "celebrate the achievements of our colleagues, who consistently advance the IDM's mission to raise the standards and skills of direct, data and digital marketing -- in both business and academia."
Accepting his fellowship, Chris Warren said he felt "a fraud" as the key to creating successful agencies was "to hire great people and train them, which is where the IDM comes in". He thanked the IDM for training "the 2000 people who have passed through TMW's doors".
Nick Hutton described receiving the fellowship as "the pinnacle of my direct marketing career".
Previous recipients of IDM Honorary Life Fellowships include Drayton Bird, Lester Wunderman, Sir Keith Mills and Sir Martin Sorrell.
Last year, former CEO of Proximity London, Amanda Phillips and creative partner at Barraclough Edwards Chamberlain, Chris Barraclough, were among those who were honoured.
The Institute's Educator of the Year award is made to those who have contributed significantly to its education programme, the aim of which is to attract a steady stream of new graduates into the profession.
