Hyundai links up with Virgin Radio for World Cup

LONDON – Hyundai is to sponsor Virgin Radio's coverage of the World Cup in a deal negotiated by Drum PHD, which will feature promotions, competitions and live trails.

The activity will support the manufacturer's "Drive Your Way" marketing initiative and its position as an official Fifa partner sponsoring the World Cup.

From May 1, listeners will be encouraged to register on a Hyundai microsite at virginradio.co.uk so that they can take part in competitions.

The site is live for 10 weeks and includes sales-led features including a dealership locator, links to the Hyundai website and a link from Virgin's weekly newsletter.

During the first week of the World Cup, DJ Christian O'Connell will run a daily competition to win a new Hyundai and be chauffeur-driven to see a match in Germany in a Hyundai.

There will be more chances to win the latter prize throughout the whole tournament with a 'Ticket to Drive' promotion on the Russ Williams and Neil Francis daytime shows.

Dave Roberts, head of radio at Drum PHD, said: "The radio partnership with Virgin lets us credibly integrate Hyundai with every part of Virgin Radio's offering."
