Hyundai Europe brings in Lexus marketing director

Hyundai Motor Europe has appointed former Lexus Europe head of product planning and marketing, Mark Hall, as its new marketing director.

Based in Germany, Hall will be responsible for implementing an "intensive" product launch program, with a view to positioning the South Korean automotive giant as a leading European manufacturer.

The first four products, including the B-segment MPV challenger ix20, will be launched at the 2010 Paris Motor Show on 2 October. The manufacturer plans to launch a further eight models in 2011.

Hyundai Motors, bought by South Korean car manufacturer Kia Motors in 1998, had a market share of 2.6% for the first eight months of 2010, representing an increase on the 2.4% recorded for the same period last year.

The company employs more than 75,000 people worldwide and sold approximately 3.1 million vehicles in 2009, posting sales of US$41.8bn.
