HTC's Virtually Dead theatre production is set to take over a secret London location from 19 March to 3 April, to showcase the brand's new Vive virtual reality (VR) headset.

The one-hour experience will see attendees first fight a plague of zombies, in a bid to save a small town from the deadly creatures.

Ticketholders will then enter a series of dedicated VR zones, where they will have the chance to physically walk around and explore a virtual world using HTC’s room-scale VR technology. There will also be opportunities to view Vertigo Games' upcoming zombie shoot 'em up Arizona Sunshine experience.

The production will span approximately half a kilometre, and it is set to include a cast of 22 actors. It will take place on weekday evenings, meanwhile morning, afternoon and evening sessions are available to book on weekends.

Tickets to the experience can be purchased via a dedicated Virtually Dead website, and members of the public can opt to go on their own or in groups of up to 10 people.

Jon Goddard, head of European VR marketing at HTC, said: "By combining our VR with immersive theatre, we aim to introduce new audiences to HTC Vive before our April launch. We have produced something that showcases VR in a whole new light and will attract people outside of the usual circles that would typically be interested in a VR event."

Alice Peperell, event producer at Noma Labs, added: "Working with HTC to introduce Vive to a different market has been incredibly exciting. Virtually Dead is the perfect example of how important storytelling can be when introducing hi-tech products to a new audience."
