The traditional speaker format is being replaced in 2014 with fully interactive panel discussions and Q&A sessions with leading brands sharing their sustainability journeys and application to live events and experiential marketing.

Rick Stainton, Smyle managing director and co-founder of the new Sustainable Events Summit, said: "Last year it was a bit 'listen and take notes', where the brand speakers were concerned. This year we are stripping it back to the real questions and answers that the event industry wants."

Around 50 brands will be invited to the Sustainable Events Summit 2014, which will take place on 18 February 2014 at 30 Euston Square, London.

They will join up to 250 other delegates from agencies, venues and suppliers for networking and discussion on how to implement sustainability for a more efficient business.

"The confusion in the past has been that brands have been concentrating on battening down the hatches, but sustainability is all about efficiency - efficiency of time, people, money and resources," said Stainton. "But if you are more efficient, then your budget goes further."

This year's inaugural summit, supported by Mayor of London Boris Johnson, was attended by more than 200 delegates including 40 key brands and created an online community of over 500 sustainability followers.

The event will be chaired by ex CNN and BBC reporter Nadine Dzeera, and is a partnership between Smyle, Sustainable Events and Positive Impact.

Fiona Pelham, managing director of Sustainable Events and Positive Impact, said: "Our programme will facilitate the opportunity for delegates to take away ideas and plans to use with their own clients and events."
