The ad, featuring the strapline ‘Delivering Christmas for you', tells consumers that the business is working hard to resume its normal service, and directs them to its microsite royalmail.com/greetings.

The ad reads: ‘We know that as a result of recent strikes we have not always been able to give some of you the service you deserve and expect, despite making every effort to maintain deliveries.'

‘Whether you're one of the 40m people who do their shopping on-line for gifts, or you're sending one of the 700 million Christmas cards to brighten up someone's festive season, we're ready for you to deliver your Christmas.'
