British Gas is marketing itself jointly with sister brand Hive for the first time to promote their smartphone app.

The ad, by CHI & Partners, stars musician Jamie, who is on tour in Norway during the festive period – one of the 15 million people in the UK spending Christmas away from their families. To connect with his son, Jamie arranges to switch on the family’s elaborate festive lights remotely via Hive. The work was created by Artem Bjork and Colin Smith, and directed by John Turner through Acne.
