The event will take place on 26 and 27 July and will be hosted in partnership with the 13th Merchant City Festival, Glasgow, as part of the Festival 2014 celebrations during the Commonwealth Games.
Merchant City Festival will also be one of three live zones for this year's Glasgow Commonwealth Games this summer, resulting in the festival expanding from its initial five days to 11 days. The Vintage Festival will take place during the first weekend of Festival 2014.
The Vintage Festival will feature performances from the likes of 1940/50s-inspired dance troupe The Kennedy Cupcakes, as well as vintage gramophone DJ Lord Holyrude, who will provide music at various sites across the festival.
In Glasgow's Old Fruitmarket, the Bratislava Hot Serenaders from Slovakia, will perform for the first time in Scotland on 27 July, in an evening hosted by Viv the Spiv where guests can learn authentic vintage dance routines with expert dance teachers. On 26 July the festival will host the Soul Casino, featuring soul, funk and disco DJs.
A vintage makeover salon, which will be located in Merchant Square, will allow attendees to transform their look with a decade-specific hairstyle and beauty makeover, while a vintage marketplace will offer vintage shoppingn and food with traders operating from classic vehicles.
Wayne Hemingway said: "We had a great time in Glasgow last summer, the vintage marketplace and vintage beauty salon were mobbed from opening to close, dancing took place in the bars throughout the days and evenings and the sold-out nightclubs were uplifting."
He added that having the festival form part of the Commonwealth Games Culture 2014 programme will allow them to explore international elements of vintage culture. "This will ensure this is a one-off vintage festival and the team can’t wait to deliver something that will live long in the memory."
Councillor Gordon Matheson, leader of Glasgow City Council, chair of the Merchant City Festival and chair of Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, said: "After a magnificent debut last summer we are delighted to welcome Vintage back to Merchant City Festival as part of Festival 2014.
"This cultural celebration running alongside the sporting action of the Commonwealth Games will demonstrate to the world Glasgow’s ability to deliver a world-class cultural programme."
