The donation statues will be located at ten UK shopping centres from today (12 February). The statues are life-sized replicas British comedians and comic characters who have donated their time to help Comic Relief over the years.
Hel’s Angels has implemented a logistical campaign to ensure the safe transportation and installation of the Red Nose Day donation statues.
The public will be able to tap their credit or debit cards on the comedian’s pocket to donate £1 to Red Nose Day using Barclays' contactless technology or through the Barclays Pingit app. Donors will also be encouraged to take a selfie with the statues to share with their friends on social media via the hashtag #RNDStatue.
The statues will feature comedians Billy Connolly, David Walliams, Dawn French, John Bishop, Lenny Henry and Miranda Hart. Alan Partridge, played by Steve Coogan, David Jason’s Only Fools and Horses character Del Boy, Eddie and Patsy from Absolutely Fabulous and Mr Bean, played by Rowan Atkinson, will also feature.
Locations in which the Red Nose Day donation statues will feature include Intu shopping centres in Chapelfield, Braehead, Merry Hill, Newcastle and Milton Keynes, Westfield’s Stratford and White City shopping outlets in London, Bristol’s Cabot Circus, Golden Square shopping centre in Warrington and Exeter’s Guildhall shopping centre.
