Hello! expands website with subscription video service

LONDON - Hello! magazine has expanded its website with a new paid-for section featuring video stories, photos and interviews available either to view as a one-off or via a subscription fee.

offers a six-month subscription at £19.99 or access to a single video clip at 50p. Users will soon also have access to all of Hello! magazine's celebrity and royal coverage from the past two years.

Tree Elven, editor of hellomagazine.com, said: "We value the loyalty of our online readers and we haven't taken anything away from the popular free site or started charging for items that were previously free."

She added: "Diamond Club is an exciting new forum, offering the ultimate in the unexpected and the exclusive. We see it as our readers' VIP club, a meeting place that will become the core of our worldwide community."

Current items available to view include scenes from the premiere of the film 'X-Men 2', an interview with Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and a three-minute item on the opening of Celine Dion's Las Vegas show.

The website is hugely popular and, according to ABC Electronic, recorded 7,960,253 page impressions and 1,235,164 visits in March.

This is a 33% increase in traffic on the figures for December 2002, when the site had 5,984,414 page impressions. In March, the site had a daily average of almost 257,000 page impressions.

The Diamond Club service launches today.
