
Beaumont-Laurencia, who previously worked at charity Cancer Research UK as senior events manager and event director, will be responsible for managing a programme of events across the year in the newly created position. This will include Dig the City, an annual urban gardening festival taking place between 2 and 10 August.
The French-born events producer has ten years experience in event management, initially setting up an events company while at university.
Alexandra King, director at CityCo, Manchester’s city centre management company, which manages the Heart of Manchester BID, said: "Producing creative, innovative events is a key part of what we do to attract more people to visit, stay and spend in Manchester city centre. We are committed to raising the appeal and perception of Manchester as the UK’s leading regional destination.
"To have an experienced events producer as part of our senior management team is crucial to drive forward the expanding programme. With Nelson’s experience, enthusiasm and talent, he will be a huge asset to the company and we’re delighted to have him on board."
Beaumont-Laurencia said: "This brand new role gives me an excellent opportunity to contribute to the continuing success of city centre Manchester. I’m passionate about event management and have big ambitions and want to aim higher and raise the bar further. The BID team have big plans for Manchester and it’s great to be part of it."
