Hachette UK boosts women's titles with new publishers

LONDON - Hachette Filipacchi is looking to strengthen its UK offering with the appointment of two new group publishers.

The French publishing giant, which recently bolstered its UK operations by purchasing Attic Futura, has appointed Lara Wilkins as group publisher of Elle and Elle Decoration.

She will be replaced as group publisher for teen titles by Steph Grice, who will have responsibility for Sugar, tvhits! and Elle Girl. Both appointments will be effective from January 1. Wilkins will report to Hachette Filipacchi general manager women's group Julie Harris, while Steph Grice will report to managing director Vivien Cotterill.

Cotterill said: "As we promised, we've focused on structuring Hachette with clear brand champions. These appointments confirm our belief in the strength and necessity of publishers. The publishers' role will focus not only on the profit and loss and consumers of each brand, but also on the external communications and relationships with our clients, agencies and suppliers -- this, we believe, is essential to developing the Hachette UK business."
