Hachette appoints marketing and new business directors

LONDON - Hachette Filipacchi has strengthened its UK management team with the appointment of a marketing director and a business development director.

Simon Bell joins Hachette in September as director of marketing from digital music channel Music Choice, where he was director of music and marketing.

Bell has held senior marketing positions at Unilever, FT.com and the BBC, where he was head of strategic marketing for BBC1.

Hachette, the publisher of Elle, Red and Sugar, has also promoted publisher Sarah Vickery to the role of business development director with responsibility for launches and acquisitions.

Kevin Hand, the chairman of Hachette Filipacchi UK, said: "We are delighted to have secured the services of such an outstanding marketer, whose wide range of skills and experience will add a new dimension to our team."
