Guardian readies mobile website for launch

LONDON - Guardian.co.uk is to be made available on a fully functional mobile internet site from early March offering advertisers the chance to capitalise on the growing trend.

The launch of will reflect the design of and will be optimised for all phones, including device specific versions for iPhone and Blackberry.

Adam Freeman, commercial director, Guardian News & Media, said: "We've seen a dramatic increase in mobile traffic to our website over the last few months making this the perfect time for us to launch a made for mobile proposition.

"m.guardian.co.uk is designed to meet the needs of advertisers keen to capitalise on this growing market and the ever-increasing demands of our readers for Guardian and Observer content when, where and how they want it."

The mobile site will be ad funded, and GNM have appointed 4th Screen Advertising in the UK to work alongside and support the existing sales team in developing and selling advertising, sponsorships, bespoke content and cross platform campaigns. Google Ad Words will also appear on all pages.

GNM said it had reached distribution agreements with 3 and Vodafone with more pending.

The launch is being done in collaboration with a portfolio of partners that include Bluestar Mobile with Mobile IQ's Fabric platform, Momac, WIN and Roundpoint.
