Meanwhile, The Daily Telegraph's website posted the biggest growth year-on-year of all newspaper websites, registering an ABCe of 18.7 million, up 108.5% since July 2007.

All of the mainstream newspaper groups that issue ABCe results enjoyed an increase in unique users year on year in July, with Mail Online's unique user base increasing 57.7%, from 11.8 million in July last year, to 18.7 million last month.

Times Online's unique user base grew by 55.5% year on year in July, from 10.5 million to 16.4 million unique users, while The Sun's website increased its unique user base by 69.3% year on year, from 9.4 million to 15.9 million.

ABCe statistics for July 2007 are not available for The Independent's website or for Mirror Group Digital, although both sites' July ABCe figures were down compared with June.

Mirror Group Digital was the only UK newspaper website grouping with a majority of its users coming from the UK.

Most newspaper websites recorded two-thirds of their traffic from outside the UK and Republic of Ireland. Mail Online reported that 13.2 million out of its 18.7 million visitors in July logged on from outside the UK.
