Google launches statistics service for UK users

LONDON - Google UK has launched a new service called Google Internet Stats that collates a variety of industry facts and insights on a range of topics, from consumer and macro economic trends to media consumption.

allows users to access all sorts of data such as the fact that 20 hours of video are uploaded to every minute and that on average 30% of our leisure time is now spent online.

The stats are split into five sections:

  • Technology
  • Macro Economic Trends
  • Media Landscape
  • Media Consumption
  • Consumer Trends

The data has been collected from a number of third party sources including B2Bonline.com, Barb, ComScore, Datamonitor, Deloitte, The Economist, the Financial Times, GFK, JP Morgan, Mindshare, NMA, Ofcom, TNS, The Wall Street Journal and Warc.

Users can also submit their own statistics, but these will be verified by Google's market research teams.

Google said on its Barometer blog: "Whether you are an advertiser or work in the media industry and want to uncover key industry stats or just someone interested in the trends of the web, we hope you'll find the tool useful."
