Available to select riders and Uber for Business users, UberEvents allows organisers to register their event via the company’s website, at which point they will receive a series of guest passes via email.
They can customise the guest passes by including a maximum spend, as well as the number of trips, and forward them on to attendees.
Guests can make use of their pass by entering a unique code under the promotions section of their Uber app. They are then able to request a car to transport them to and/or from an event, depending on the specifications of their pass.
The function has been introduced in select parts of the city, and there are plans to roll it out across the Big Apple over the coming weeks.
Kimiko Ninomiya, senior marketing manager at Uber, said: "When planning a company happy hour, client appreciation dinner, or even upcoming nuptials, there is a lot that goes into ensuring that your event goes off without a hitch—including how your guests can safely get to and from it without any fuss.
"We want to make the experience of planning transportation logistics as seamless as ordering a ride at the touch of button. Starting today we are excited to offer select riders and Uber for Business users beta access to our latest feature UberEvents."
Last month Uber teamed up with Warner Bros to offer free rides in Mad Max-themed cars, enabling fans in downtown Seattle to experience the film's dystopian world first-hand.
