Global: Top Gear's #BigStig takes to the road for BBC Brit

BBC Worldwide has enlisted agency Taylor Herring PR to tour a giant effigy of Top Gear character 'The Stig' through Europe to celebrate the launch of new TV channel BBC Brit.

After departing from Top Gear’s headquarters at Dunsfold Aerodrome in the UK yesterday (26 January) the 30-foot-high statue is embarking upon a three-day tour of Europe. #BigStig will end its journey at Warsaw in Poland, where it will be erected adjacent to The Palace of Science and Culture after taking a detour through the Netherlands and Germany.

BBC Brit is due to launch on 1 February and will broadcast new episodes of Top Gear in Poland the same day as the UK.

The model is made from fibreglass and took a tram of three sculptors more than two months to design, construct and paint. Its head and torso alone measure 12 feet high, equivalent to the size of a double-decker bus.

Amanda Hill, chief brands officer at BBC Worldwide, said: "BBC Brit will be the new home of Top Gear in Poland so what better way to mark this than by taking them a giant Stig. Fans will be able to spot him on the roads of England, Holland and Germany, he’s impossible to miss."
