The progress report from Glasgow 2014 Games Partners highlights research that found interest in the Commonwealth Games doubled among Scots after the start of the Olympics. According to the report, 40% of Scots say they are more excited for the Commonwealth Games thanks to Olympics.
It states: "Experiencing a home Games first hand provided the organising committee and its Games Partners an amazing chance to soak up as much knowledge as possible from counterparts at Locog and its delivery partners."
The report covers developments over the last six months, including agency
Five new sponsors have signed up to the Games since the last report in May, including Swiss watch brand Longines and gas and electricity company SSE.
The Games are estimated to cost £523.6 million, mainly funded by the Scottish Government, Glasgow City Council and commercial income generated by the organising committee.
An expected £61.7 million will be spent in 2012-2013, principally on developing venues.
Work is underway on venues including the Hydro Arena, the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre's new arena that will open next year. Work begun in September to create the building’s façade, using translucent foil cushions made from a material originally developed for the Space industry.
