Flickr members' photos will soon be considered for inclusion in The Flickr Collection, a branded portfolio at gettyimages.com. The images included in this portfolio will be available for licensing to Getty's creative, commercial and editorial customers within weeks.

The deal will allow Getty customers' greater choice for their projects, as they will be able to use any of the pictures chosen from the Flickr community.

The two companies are in talks to establish a commercial licensing service for amateur photographers in the Flickr community. Images will be chosen by Getty Images editors based on their knowledge of digital content licensing.

In coming months, selected Flickr members will be invited to participate in the collection, while online tools will be set up to help editors contact Flickr members.

Getty will retain the exclusive commercial rights to the chosen photographs.
