Future's Gower to head US customer publishing launch

LONDON - Future is to launch a US-based customer publishing division, which will be headed by the publisher's UK division chief John Gower.

The new division, Future Plus US, launches on December 1 in the US and will be headed by Gower, who will lead the development of client relationships and report directly to Jonathan Simpson-Burt, president of the US division.

The publisher has named Jayne Caple, formerly UK sales director at Future, as Gower's immediate replacement.

Future Plus US, which is based in San Francisco, has already signed publishing partnerships with Microsoft, AT&T and Sony. It will aim to replicate the success of its UK counterpart, which handles customer magazine work for BSkyB, BT Vision, PC World and HMV.

Future said the close working relationship between the US and UK customer publishing divisions would benefit clients on each side of the Atlantic by offering international reach and a "consistent brand approach".

Robert Price, UK chief executive of Future, said: "John Gower played a pivotal role in building Future Plus UK and we wish him well as he moves to replicate the success of this agency model in the US."

"Jayne Caple will head up our fast-growing UK operation. Jayne has made a massive contribution to Future through her leadership of our advertising operations and will bring experience, vast contacts book and clear understanding of the Future ethos to our customer publishing team."
