Future's DVD Review to reveal 500 movie 'easter eggs'

LONDON - Future's DVD magazine, DVD Review, is to reveal the location of more than 500 items of DVD bonus material, known in the industry as 'easter eggs', that have been secreted away by producers.

Locating easter eggs has become a hot topic online with movie websites all looking to find hidden bonus material.

The March issue of DVD Review brings movie fans a exclusive 96-page book revealing 502 of the best easter eggs.

The extra material is the cinematic equivalent of hidden bonus tracks on music CDs and, while the bonus material can vary, film buffs can expect to find previously unseen outtakes or interviews not available through the DVD menu system.

One of the most celebrated recent easter eggs was hidden on the recent DVD launch of 'Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith' with a specially created five-minute hip-hop style music video showcasing the dancing skills of Yoda, which could only be played with a secret code.

The March issue also includes an exclusive interview with Joss Whedon, creator of cult sci-fi film 'Serenity' and 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer'.

Cassie Whittell, editor of DVD Review, said: "DVD Review readers always want to know how to find the secret stuff on their DVDs. Easter eggs are an added treat on the discs they buy, and our book gives them some fantastic pub ammo."
