Porteous will join on 7 February, when current film associate publisher Stuart Galbraith will move to become associate publisher of gaming titles Official Xbox 360 Magazine, independent title Xbox World and boys' action title Nitro.
She will take charge of Total Film, SFX, Comic Heroes, and DVD & Blu-Ray Review along with their associated web properties, specials and events.
Porteous and Galbraith will report to Simon Maxwell, group publisher for Future's entertainment portfolio.
Future aligned its film and games brands into the entertainment portfolio towards the end of last year under Maxwell.
Maxwell said: "Clair has proven success of driving revenue through brand extensions and developing the UK's leading men's lifestyle magazine on a variety of platforms. We have big plans across the group and Clair's experience is key to helping us drive these forward."
