Future is launching iPad apps called The 50 Best Guitars To Play Before You Die (Guitarist magazine), Best Landscape Photos (Digital Camera World), 101 Best Movies of all time (Total Film), 200 Best Rock Albums of the 70s (Classic Rock), Sportsbike Legends (Fast Bikes).

Photographer of the Year (Digital Camera), 25 Guitarist Wallpapers (Guitarist), Make the Most of Your Mac, (MacFormat), The Essential iPhone 4 Handbook (MacFormat), iPad: The Essential Handbook (MacFormat) and Doctor Who – A Celebration (SFX).

In addition, the publisher has created Zinio apps for its titles ProCycling, MacFormat and Digital Camera World.

Six of the 11 apps have already been approved by Apple and the publisher is confident the others will soon pass.

Future, which has offices in London and Bath, already has more than 50 of its magazines available in Zinio format, such as technology title T3, which launched in October and is now in its third edition.

According to Future's analysis of revenue for the year ending 30 September, magazine advertising revenue for the group was down by 9% to £33.9m while digital advertising revenue was up 8% to £11.5m.

Mark Wood, chief executive Future UK, said: "A quarter of all our ad revenue now comes from digital – so we are pushing to develop more video as another way to generate more ad revenue, as video is attractive to advertisers because it attracts higher CPM rates."

Wood said the apps will launch with a range of prices ranging from 59p to £5.49, as "nobody really knows yet which price points work. The challenge is how to price these new editions. We are going to see how they sell".

Total Film magazine, which recorded an average net circulation of 76,088 in the latest ABCs for the six months to June 2010, will have a second spin-off app to sit alongside its Total Film Zinio app, called 101 Best Movies of All Time.

Guitarist magazine, which has a latest ABC circulation of 30,539, will also see a second app added to its bow as it also already has a Zinio app. The new app will be called 25 Guitarist Wallpapers. The app allows the user to download wallpapers of guitar images for their iPad.

Mike Goldsmith, editor-in-chief of Future's iPad and Tablet editions, said: "The iPad is the perfect showcase for Future’s unique archive of specialist content."

In November, Future reported for its full financial year, but the halving of its net debt to £7.4m helped boost group pre-tax profits by 51% to £5.6m.
