Furniture recycling charity appoints Satellite for integrated drive

LONDON - Green-Works, a charity that recycles office furniture, has appointed integrated agency Satellite to develop a campaign that will attract new donors, new buyers and raise awareness of waste reduction.

As well as providing businesses such as BP and Unilever with a practical service covering the removal of old office equipment, the charity helps schools, other charities and community groups by offering them the equipment at discounted prices. Running seven warehouses across the UK, the charity creates training and job opportunities in deprived areas.

Satellite, which specialises in ethical and environmental clients, was handed the business without a pitch.

The first phase of the campaign, which will launch this autumn, is to use direct mail, inserts and press ads to tell schools about the charity's furniture offering.

Ian Patton, managing director of Satellite, said: "Millions of tonnes of office furniture are needlessly thrown away every year, most of it ending up in landfill sites, and often there is nothing wrong with it.

"Green-Works has an important message, which needs communicating. The new campaign will position it at the forefront of sustainability and social enterprise in the UK, helping to combat climate change and allow companies to meet their environmental and social agendas."
