FT appoints Jetha as chief operating officer

LONDON - The Financial Times has appointed Yasmin Jetha as chief operating officer in addition to her existing role as chief information officer.

Jetha, who joined the FT in January 2006, has been responsible for all IT services including the linking of 24 global print sites to enable the production of seven newspaper editions a day.

As chief operating officer, she will take responsibility for the smooth integration of three acquisitions the company has made in the past six months: recruitment website Exec-Appointments; fund management information provider Money-Media; and two international market intelligence and benchmarking products, OCOMonitor and OCOAccess.

John Ridding, chief executive of the FT, said: "Yasmin will play a crucial role as chief operating officer, identifying opportunities for the FT to be more efficient across all departments in order to free resources for investing in talent and new products."

The role of chief operating officer has been newly created.
