Fox promotes Robots film launch with animated desktop avatars

LONDON - Twentieth Century Fox has developed a range of animated desktop avatars to promote its new film 'Robots' across 20 countries across the globe.

Rodney Copperbottom and Fender, two of the characters from the film, can be downloaded as desktop avatars from the Robots to feed users with special updates about the film and the Robots console game.

The characters also perform a number of activities on desktops -- one of these is to alert a user when an email arrives.

The animated film, by the makers of 'Ice Age', shows a three-dimensional world populated only by mechanical beings with distinct personalities. It launches in the UK this Friday.

Bettina Sherick, vice-president of online and wireless marketing at Twentieth Century Fox International, said: "Through these avatars, we are able to introduce the 'Robots' characters, the film and console game to a large international audience in a clever and innovative way."

The avatar program was created through AdMonkey, a content management system designed by Lawton eMarketing.
