Founder of John Caples Awards Andi Emerson dies

LONDON - Andi Emerson, founder of the John Caples International Awards and board chair for the last 30 years, has died aged 82.

Emerson travelled the world presenting speeches and seminars on direct response creativity, as illustrated by Caples Award winning entries.

John Caples wrote the classic ads and text books that inspired the awards, but Emerson's dedication allowed the awards to survive and thrive. They have grown to encompass 54 countries with over a thousand entries every year.

The Caples Awards honour "creative solutions to direct marketing problems" and those individuals who have made invaluable contributions to the direct marketing field.

Emerson was a tireless advocate of the scientific approach, with its emphasis on testable and quantifiable results, combined with creative problem solving.

She was a leader in direct marketing education, writing and publishing articles for the Direct Marketing Creative Guild, of which she was a founding member.

She was also the author of over 85 major articles in 17 publications, including Direct Magazine, Direct Marketing magazine, DM News, Target Marketing and 北京赛车pk10.

Emerson founded several companies, including Mail Order Operating Group, an international mail-order company headquartered in the UK; Sonal World Marketing, a New York City and New Delhi based import-export company; and The Emerson Marketing Agency, a direct response marketing, advertising and consultancy company.
