Fortnum's plans customer mag

LONDON - Fortnum & Mason, the upmarket grocer on London's Piccadilly, is launching a customer magazine to fuel mail-order and online sales.

The Fortnum & Mason Magazine will be published tri-annually by Square One Publishing, with a circulation of 100,000. The 100-page title will comprise editorial on its product ranges as well as reader promotions, and will carry third-party ads.

The company hopes the title will drive new shoppers to the store as well as bolster its relationship with existing customers.

The first issue of the ABC-audited publication, which launches in April, will be distributed free in-store. Subsequent editions, with a cover price of £3.50, will be sold in-store and online.

The store is currently undergoing a £24m refurbishment, including the addition of a fresh-food floor and wine bar. The work will be completed in time for its 300th anniversary in October.
