Button moves from Brawn GP and it is understood that his remuneration will be less than had been tabled by his previous employer.

The deal sees Button join with fellow British racing star Lewis Hamilton at Vodafone McLaren Mercedes.

The new signing gives Vodafone McLaren Mercedes the opportunity promote the two most recent British F1 champions to the domestic market.

It was recently announced that Brawn GP will be rebranded Mercedes GP after being acquired by the German car giant.
