She left Proximity last September as it merged with fellow BBDO shop Craik Jones and took time off.
Wokingham-based Volume Group provides IT, HR and data intelligence services to businesses. Clients have included Dell and Oracle. It recently won the CRM development account for Vets Now, an emergency veterinary care network.
Group acquisitions include GlobalDM in January 2007 and DM printer Vee Media in June 2008.
Colin Lloyd, DM and SP entrepreneur and former president of the DMA, joined Volume Group's board in January.
Phillips, an IDM Honorary Life Fellow, started in marketing on the client side, moving to Rapp Collins, eventually becoming Proximity's CEO in late 2006.
During Phillips' time at Proximity the agency won the 2007 MCCA agency of the year award. She joined the company in 2004 as business development director from McCann Relationship Marketing.
"With so much bleak news in the industry, I only have to spend time with Volume to be reminded that some businesses are still flourishing, and Volume is one of them," Phillips said.
