The Little Yellow Door, located on Notting Hill Gate, will open its doors next Wednesday (29 October). It is based on a fictional flatshare between five friendly ‘flatmates’, who will be welcoming locals and non-locals into their cosy west London home, where they will host weekly dinner and drinks parties.
The Little Yellow Door has claimed it will be the first hospitality venue to take bookings by messaging service WhatsApp.
Regular visitors to The Little Yellow Door will receive a key to the door so they can come and leave as they wish, and if guests bring a quirky bottle of drink from their own home they will be rewarded with a personalised mug, which will be filled up with a special punch every time they visit free of charge.
The venue is decorated with an eclectic mix-match of colourful, quirky possessions belonging to the residents, and drink will be served in jars, blenders and teapots.
Menus are handwritten on magazines lying around the house, featuring an experimental drinks list influenced by the flatmates’ favourite TV shows. These include My Name Is Earl, an Earl Grey-infused gin, citrus, egg white and sugar short drink served in a tea cup and saucer with biscuits on the side, and sprinkled with earl grey leaves.
The venue is available for private hire, suitable for dinners, canapé and drinks receptions, Christmas parties and corporate events. The Little Yellow Door’s main room has a capacity of 85 standing and 45 seated, while a private room decorated as an old fashioned treehouse can cater for ten delegates informally.
Event bookers can also get commission on bringing the venue business, between 8% and 12% depending on the frequency of work.
