LONDON - Five has renewed its first-run rights for its top-rated shows Grey's Anatomy, House and the Law & Order franchise.

Five renews US drama deals
The deals include screenings on digital channel Five US as well as the terrestrial station.

House, currently in its third series and distributed by NBC Universal International Television Distribution, pulls in around 2 million viewers in its Thursday slot at 9pm. It is sponsored by Spontex gloves and is screened before legal drama Shark as part of a block called Genius Thursday.

The second season of Grey's Anatomy, distributed by Buena Vista International Television (BVITV) and sponsored by Eve magazine, peaked at 1 million viewers on its first airing on 25 March.

Five recently signed a deal with BVITV for the video-on-demand rights to Grey's Anatomy in the UK after becoming the first UK broadcaster to launch a VOD service, Five Download, last year.

Law & Order's trio of series - Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent - regularly features in the top ten US programmes in the UK.

The deals were negotiated by Vanessa Brookman, Five's controller of acquisitions.
