Sponsors extend deals for Five programming

Five has won a new sponsorship with car repair giant Kwik-Fit and has renewed a string of other deals.

Kwik-Fit has signed a 12-month, £1.5m deal to sponsor Five's weather in a deal negotiated by Rachael Wheeler, sponsorship controller at the broadcaster, and Chris Holdom, associate director at SponsorCom.

The package includes opening and closing credits around each bulletin, together with branding and an advertorial on the FiveNews and Weather site. Five also announced this week that a series of advertisers have opted to extend existing sponsorships across 2007.

These include Peugeot, whose support for Five's peak movies will now run through a fourth year, making it Five's longest-running sponsorship deal. Peugeot promotion will cover movies shown on Five, Five Life and Five US.

Norwich Union has extended sponsorship of Five's property outputfor a further year, with exposure also incorporating shows on Five Life, while Energizer's association with The Gadget Show will continue for the new series in 2007.

THQ has committed to a further 12 months supporting Shake, while Eve magazine has renewed its backing for Grey's Anatomy,to cover the forthcoming second series.

Home & Away will continue to be supported by Weetabix and Party Poker will endorse the channel's late-night sport, while Spontex has renewed its support of the US drama House, to cover the third series. Rolls-Royce will continue its sponsorship of Five's transmission of the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures.
