Five appoints Precursor to work on new channel launches

LONDON - Five has hired design agency Precursor to create the identities of its new digital channels, Five US and Five Life.

The agency will work on logos, on-air idents, continuity links and the complete graphics packages for the new channels, which go on air this autumn.

The Precursor team will work with Nol Davis, head of creative services at Five, and the in-house creative team.

Davis said: "We wanted to work with Precursor as creative partners who can help us build from the strong typographical brand of Five to achieve pioneering and fresh images for Five US and Five Life."

Five US will feature new drama, comedy, films, sport and youth programming from US television, with shows expected to include the 'CSI' franchise, 'Gray's Anatomy' and 'Everybody Hates Chris'. Five Life will feature an extension of the pre-school strand Milkshake! along with female-skewed programming including soaps, films and lifestyle shows.

Five has launched a major recruitment drive to staff the new channels, which will be funded by a substantial additional investment from the broadcaster's sole shareholder the European media group, RTL.
