First Plus picks EHS Brann and Starcom MediaVest

First Plus Financial, a division of Barclays, has appointed a new roster of agencies, with EHS Brann picking up the creative account and Starcom MediaVest winning the £6m media planning and buying account.

Creative was handled by the J Walter Thompson division Black Cat, while MediaCom North held media. Both EHS Brann and Starcom are existing Barclays agencies.

First Plus, which spends the bulk of its budget on direct response television advertising starring Carol Vorderman, has also appointed TechnoPhobia as its online creative agency and Ragdoll to handle its market research. Equimedia has retained the online media account.

The roster review followed the arrival of Alaric Churchill as the marketing and CRM director for First Plus, from a previous role at Barclaycard. It also appointed Paul Purdy as its head of marketing.

Churchill said: "The business continues to deliver double-digit returns to shareholders and we need active support from external agencies to continue to expand."
